At Kiaterra, we aim to elevate Indonesian coffee through care for people, planet, and product.
Indonesia is home to some of the world's most diverse coffee-growing regions, shaped by unique climates, elevations, and generations of farming tradition. Yet much of its specialty coffee potential remains underrepresented, often reduced to a single flavour profile while its true diversity goes unnoticed.
Our mission is to connect coffee drinkers with the origins behind every cup. By working closely with trusted producers and partners in Indonesia, we source coffees with a focus on quality, transparency, and long-term relationships. We import our coffees directly and roast them intentionally in small batches in the Netherlands, allowing each origin's unique character to shine.
Through this approach, we hope to share the richness of Indonesian coffee while supporting a more transparent and sustainable coffee journey—from farm to cup. Direct from the highlands of Indonesia. Intentionally roasted in the Netherlands.
Sumatra – Gayo
Our journey begins in the Gayo Highlands of Aceh, Northern Sumatra — one of Indonesia's most renowned coffee-growing regions.
Situated between 1,300 and 1,700 metres above sea level, the region's volcanic soil, cool climate, and abundant rainfall create ideal conditions for producing high-quality Arabica coffee.
For generations, coffee farming has been an important part of life in Gayo. The combination of natural conditions and local expertise contributes to coffees known for their rich body, balanced sweetness, and distinctive character.
At Kiaterra, we source directly from the Gayo Highlands from our partner Le gayo to build closer connections with origin, working mutually with farmer, improve traceability, and share the story behind every cup.
Our Core Collection is a reflection of this commitment — Produced with a focus on sustainable farming practices and carefully hand-sorted by local farmers including women, Gayo Black reflects both the quality and heritage of one of Indonesia's most celebrated coffee regions.
Our coffee are specialty graded with cupping score of 83 or above.
